TAUpdate

TA Online Update is a facility that enables you to ensure that the versions of all Tax Assistant modules on your computer are fully up to date.

When TA Online Update is installed on your computer it will connect to this web location from time to time to see if there are newer versions of any Tax Assistant modules available. If there are, you will be given the opportunity to update the Tax Assistant installation on your computer to the latest version.

After you install TA Online Update you will not need to visit the Downloads page to check for new updates. When TA Online Update detects that a later version is available you will be asked if you want to install this update on your computer. If you confirm that you do, your Tax Assistant installation will be updated to the latest version.

If you use Tax Assistant on a computer that cannot connect to the Internet, you can still ensure that your Tax Assistant installation is fully up to date by downloading the TA Online Update file (see below), copying it on to a CD, USB memory device, etc., and running it on that computer to install the update.

TA Online Update is an ideal way to keep your Tax Assistant installation fully up to date if you have broadband access to the Internet. If you connect to the Internet using an analogue modem, you may find that downloading individual Tax Assistant modules from the Downloads page is more convenient.

Important Notes:

To install TA Online Update on your computer, you must have Tax Assistant version 12.1 or later already installed (i.e. from the Tax Assistant version 12.1 CD).

TA Online Update uses an executable file called WiseUpdt.exe. If you are using a firewall you must make sure that it is configured so that this program is permitted to access the Internet.

To reduce the size of the TA Online Update file, we have not included the HMRC Help Sheets in the installation. The full Tax Assistant Library, including the HMRC Help Sheets can be installed by running the installation of Tax Assistant from the latest CD.
