KB Item 100124
Entering zero in NRD14

Tax Assistant

Category: None     Severity level: 0

Problem

When completing the 'Residence, remittance Basis, etc' pages, I have put an 'X' in box NRD1 and so am required to make an entry in box NRD14. My client has not been resident in the UK during the specified period but the software will not allow me to enter a zero in to box NRD14.

Resolution

HMRC special case #29
Due to a validation on the HMRC system they require an entry of between 1 and 1461 to be made in NRD14 when NRD1 is completed. If your client was not resident in the UK during the specified period you should enter '1' into NRD14 and then make a note of this in the additional information space.
