2008 Tax Return Help

Latest update 25/04/2008

This page contains information that will help you to complete the new HMRC Tax Returns using our 2008 Tax Return program.

For the first time since Self Assessment was introduced in 1997, the Tax Return has been substantially re-designed. Furthermore,  HMRC now expects tax advisers to submit all their returns online, except for the small proportion that cannot be submitted electronically for technical or operational reasons. This means that for the vast majority of returns it is no longer necessary to produce a full printed Tax Return form. In fact, HMRC has now abolished the approved substitute Tax Return form as a means of filing returns.

To help you get started with using the new 2008 Tax Return program we have created 'Help Notes & Tutorials'. This is a brief user guide, which includes typical example returns. After working through these examples you should be able to start using the program for your own clients' returns. This document also includes information on some of the new features of the program, such as the methods for using the Foreign and the Capital Gains Summary supplements.
