TaxBase PA
An Integrated Administration and Planning System
The TaxBase PA tutorial explains how to use the facilities and data in TaxBase to control and streamline the services provided to your clients. The tutorial is presented in the form of several tasks, which will be similar to those used to provide services to your clients throughout a calendar year. By working through the TaxBase PA tutorial you will learn how to create mail merge letters in Microsoft Word using data from your TaxBase database. You will also learn how to use the TaxBase "indicators" effectively and how to create conditional reports based on entries made in the TaxBase Diary. In addition, you will learn how to use the "User defined" page in TaxBase to extend the data stored in the TaxBase database to include data you define yourself.
The TaxBase PA files can be installed by running the setup program file "tbpa.exe", which you can download by clicking on the link below. This is a compressed executable setup file. After downloading it to a temporary folder on your hard disk, or on to a floppy disk, run it in the normal way by using the Windows Start --> Run process, or by double-clicking on the file name in My Computer or Windows Explorer. This will start the setup process.
The setup creates a new folder on your computer called C:\TBPA and a sub-folder called C:\TBPA\TAXBASE2. The following two files are installed:
| C:\TBPA\TaxBase PA.doc | TaxBase PA tutorial document (Version 2.2) |
| C:\TBPA\TAXBASE2\Tbase020.mdb | TaxBase PA sample client database |
After installing TaxBase PA, start Microsoft Word and open the file "C:\TBPA\TaxBase PA.doc". Follow the instructions in the 'Introduction' to configure TaxBase to access the TaxBase PA sample client database. You are then ready to begin the tutorial.
